Why is the consumer share changing?
The Board decided to make co-op ownership more accessible to everyone in the community by reducing the share amount to $75 for all households and implementing a no-cost share for qualified low-income households.
In addition, the Board decided that each share will have a single vote in Board elections (whereas in the past the number of votes depended on the type of share you purchased). This change aligns with the one share/one vote system that is standard in co-ops. One share/one vote makes the election process easy to understand and administer.
When will my share transition to the new share?
Fully paid individual shares will receive emails about the transition the week of July 8.
Fully paid two-person shares will receive emails about the transition the week of July 15.
Fully paid family shares will receive emails about the transition the week of July 22.
Partially paid shares will receive emails about the transition the week of July 29.
Can we change who is listed as the Primary Owner on the share?
Yes, on an existing consumer share. In the transition process, the first name on the share is listed as the Primary Owner and all others as Household Members. To switch a Household Member to Primary Owner, email us at ownershares@weaverstreetmarket.coop, or call 919-366-5213. Neither Primary Owner or Household Member may remove or edit the other individual from the share without both signatures.
Who can use the owner number to shop?
The Primary Owner and all Household Member(s) can shop with the owner number. Owner coupons are emailed to the Primary Owner.
Who can vote with the share?
Only the Primary Member can vote. If the Household Members want to vote, they must purchase their own shares. For transitioning two-person shares, Weaver Street will add $15 to make both shares fully paid.
I’m a Household Member and I want to vote, but I want to keep using my old owner number. Can I do this?
You can keep shopping as a Household Member with your old owner number. You will have to get a new share (with a new number) to vote. You may also want to use this new number to access WeaverConnect, where you can personalize your email preferences, including a subscription to the weekly enews and owner coupon.
I didn’t get a link to my account on the WeaverConnect owner portal, or I lost it. How do I create an account?
